Our story

Wooden Toys R Us began at a kitchen table, with one grandfather, a set of chisels, and a grandchild who deserved better than plastic. What started as a single hand-carved train grew into a workshop, then a family business — but the promise never changed: make toys sturdy enough to survive childhood, and beautiful enough to be handed to the next one.

Today our small team designs and finishes every toy in Melbourne, working with responsibly harvested timber and paints that are safe enough to chew on (because let's be honest — they will be chewed on).

We believe the best toys don't do the playing for your child. A block can be a phone, a boat, or a birthday cake. That open-endedness is the whole point.
